The people of Thailand desperately need our help. Innocent, hardworking families struggling in impoverishment are being marginalized by government programs and consequently forced to live in unsafe and overcrowded housing. The once thriving agrarian sector of Thai economy has plummeted in the last 15 years due to the industrial booms of central commercial hubs such as Bangkok and Chiang Mai. Government spending has been redistributed over the past decade to support industrialized labor and physical infrastructure in these cities, consequently neglecting hundreds of thousands rural Thai inhabitants. The need for agricultural workers dropped significantly and as a result, poverty and homelessness levels in the countryside rose drastically. Moreover, there is an alarming disparity between the upper and lower income classes in Thai society. Many Thai families living in urbanized regions of Thailand are generally well-off and flourishing in the successful industrialized economy. At the opposite end of the spectrum, however, thousands of agricultural-based families are scraping by in impoverishment, ultimately plagued by the country’s sudden economic transition.
